Common Cardiac Medications

The easiest way to think about cardiac medications is to consider what problem or diagnosis they’re trying to treat. The different categories of cardiac medications are heart failure medications, blood pressure medications, cholesterol and cardiac prevention medications, arrhythmia medications,  and heart attack type medications. Some of the medications overlap in their benefits and can help both blood pressure and help you after having a heart attack. Many have heard of medications such as beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, aspirin and blood thinners and cholesterol type medicines such as statins. Heart failure medications include both ace inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers which of course can manage blood pressure as well. So it is best to identify the problems you’re being treated for and then look at the various classification of medications that are linked in our medication section.
